Is my personal information safe on the internet?
Why should I get car insurance quotes online instead of just calling several agents at different insurance companies? It seems to me that I could get more personalized service if I talk directly to an agent about my auto insurance rates. Besides that, I’m just not sure how secure my information is when I give it out on the internet.

Robert,
That’s a good question and I’m glad you asked it because a lot of people have these same concerns. Here’s the deal:
First of all your information is secure with these companies. Remember these are are major auto insurance companies that are highly regulated by state and federal agencies. They take every precaution to play by the rules.
Also, your information will be passed through an “https” type website URL. The “s” means its a secure website that can not be accessed by anyone other than the owners of the site. Your security is guaranteed.

Secondly, when you get auto insurance quotes online through website portals like ours, you are getting multiple quotes from major insurance companies with your one inquiry.
The important thing to make note of is that the companies that will provide you with these quotes KNOW they are competing with each other.
When they participate with these online quote services, they know that you will be receiving multiple quotes from other car insurance companies. This makes them more competitive from the start.
They are paying for you to click on their website link and therefore they want to make sure they offer their absolute lowest rates to you so they can gain you as a client. You can’t get that level of competitive car insurance rate quotes when you are just talking to one agent on the phone.
Now…once you have your quotes that you received online, go to your agent by phone if you like, and ask him if he can compete with the online quote. But don’t call any agents until after you have received valid online quotes.
This will ensure that you always get the absolute lowest, most competitive rates available when you begin with online competitive quotes. And that’s what it’s all about.

I first visited your site back in April. I sort of stumbled onto it when I was doing some research on health insurance. When I saw that I could get online quotes for my auto insurance I thought what the heck I might as well check it out.
To make a long story short, I got 3 quotes in a matter of a few minutes. The best quote of the 3 was a savings of over $212 every six months compared to my current car insurance premium with a local company here in San Diego. Thanks for making this information so easy to get.

I was wondering if you or anyone reading this can help me find the best insurance company with the best rates for teenage boys. My 17 year old son is going to be starting to drive soon and is about a 3.2 GPA (I heard that insurance companies take a kid’s GPA into account when deciding on rates).
We live in Washington state and we currently are insured with Allstate.
Thanks.

To Jason
We have 3 kids and have always been insured with Geico since my wife and I got married. Our oldest son who is now 22 was first insured with them at the age of 16. We thought their rates were a bit high so we got some quotes at that time and found that they were actually lower than any of the 3 other quotes we got from companies that friends referred us to.
Try Geico and good luck.

I have been with State Farm for most of my life and when my son got his driver’s license (3 months ago)we got a quote from State Farm and also thought it was a bit high. We got a few quotes from other companies and discovered that Geico seemed to be the best so we switched all of our car insurance over to them.
Add my comments to the previous post and it almost seems like a plug for Geico, but they saved us about a hundred bucks on a six month premium so that’s who we went with.

To whom it may concern,
I wanted to thank you for putting up your site and the links to the insurance companies. My wife and I got 4 quotes and saved over $400 a year ($412 to be exact). It was really easy and the best thing was we never had to leave the house. Thanks again.

I wasted so much time trying to find lower insurance rates going through the yellow pages. What I like about comparing online is the privacy I have. I never realized it was so easy to get quotes without jumping through a bunch of hoops. I will be saving over $300 a year as a result of going with one of the quotes I got online. Much easier than I thought it would be.
Thanks for the tips and the website.

Readers -
Sometimes I find that people are still hesitant to do business online because of privacy issues. I have found however, that one of the things that drives most people to doing business on the internet in the first place is the convenience of not being confronted by a salesperson that wants to push you to make a decision today.
Here are some tips to help you maintain a certain level of privacy while requesting quotes for your auto insurance policy.
Set up an email on a free service like Gmail or Yahoo, an email address that you don’t use for everyday use.
Give this email address when requesting quotes from insurance companies, or when communicating with any company or person that you don’t want to be a regular part of your “email community”.
You will need to enter a phone number in some cases when requesting quotes. Give them your cell phone number and not your home number. That way you can avoid being interrupted at dinner time or whenever you wish to be left alone.
Thanks for reading.
