Save Up To $598 On Car Insurance In Michigan

Is it true that car insurance in Michigan costs more than any other state in America? I heard that from a guy at work yesterday.
It seems like my insurance is pretty high but I have had the same company for so many years I don’t really have anything to compare it to and I’ve never lived anywhere except Michigan
Also, if it is highest in Michigan, why would that be
Thanks

Well, it is true that In Michigan automobile owners pay some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country. But the good news is (if you live in Michigan), there are at least 10 states that are more expensive to insure your automobile.
Here they are from the highest cost to the lowest (as of Dec. 2008):
Michigan’s car insurance rates are a bit higher than average because of the harsh winters and sometimes hazardous driving conditions that come with those winters.
If you have never done a rate comparison by the way, you should re-evaluate their coverage needs at least every other year to see how rates have risen and fallen and which company is now offering the better deal. It will keep your current agent honest as well.

Can you tell me what the minimum requirements for liability coverage for Michigan car insurance policies? I have heard everything from $10,000 to $100,000 and I can’t seem to get the answers quickly online.
I’m going to be moving to Detroit in September for my job and trying to find out what my living expenses are going to be.
Thanks.

Currently, the minimum liability requirements for the state of Michigan are $10,000 for property damage; $20,000 for a single person’s bodily injury and $40,000 for bodily injury of everyone involved in an accident.
I must say however that it is always a good idea to get more coverage than state minimums, especially in this case. Those are pretty low requirements and another $100 or so a year can get you a lot more protection.
Of course, it is always better to get more coverage than what your state has stated as the minimum requirement.

Hello
I just wanted to let you know that your website helped me save some money recently.
I mistakenly thought that because of minimum requirements for auto insurance in Michigan that all of the insurance companies had to provide the same coverage to every driver at about the same rates. So I never bothered getting comparisons (my (ex)insurance agent is my wife’s friends’ husband).
I have found that getting quotes is definitely a good thing to do and I should have done it a few years ago. I came on your site about a week ago and did a quote comparison. I am now saving over $250 a year on my car insurance (3 drivers in the household). It was pretty easy and really fast.
Also, I have road side service on my new policy and my deductible is $250 less than it was with the company I have been with for 8 years. Thanks!
